September in the Rain

Hommage to Rainy Days

Its a dreary, rainy Monday here in Southwestern Pennsylvania.  I must admit, however, that I am one of those people who truly enjoys a good rain every once in a while.  There's something cozy about the pitter patter of raindrops against a surface that makes one feel snug and secure and at home.  Perhaps I just speak for myself.  But for me, it changes my perspective; there's a kind of cathartic cleansing, a clean feeling that emerges as you see twigs and leaves and cigarette butts and rubbage washed into the rain gutter and carried away. The change of seasons always brings on some sense of nostalgia in me, like a promise.  I feel the urge to put on some jazz, wrap myself in a sweater, sip spiced tea and wiggle my toes into thick socks and read the day away. 

I've decided to go ahead and post some rainy day photographs that I've taken over the years, as rain has always seemed to inspire and comfort me, in some way or another.  Here's to a rainy day or two...

Glowing Mama-to-be

A few shots from my session with Amanda and her son, Sean, the other week.  I swear you could hardly tell Amanda was even pregnant until about her ninth month.  Got a text from the mama-to-be on the way to the hospital yesterday, and am thrilled to announce the arrival of baby Bridgette.  Can't wait to photograph and share pictures of her!!  Check back soon!

4th of July

Summer in the City

Last Tuesday, my friend, Tiffany (that's her in the bottom right corner), and I ventured down to the Southside  for a change of scenery, some coffee and dinner.  It was a spur of the moment, over-caffeinated, mini road trip with lots of ridiculous car singing (watch out, Adele) and some minor detours.  We ended up strolling up and down East Carson for the evening, with brief stops at the Beehive and Pizza Sola.  Took my camera along for the ride....

Tiny Dancer: Cadence & Briana

This past Wednesday I met up with Cadence and her mommy, Briana (of Briana's Boutique) to photograph some of Briana's beautiful tutu creations!  We had lots of fun twirling and doing "princess poses."  I have to hand it to Cadence--she was a real trooper...even after I made her jump and twirl and dance and she took a minor spill on the sidewalk.  She hardly batted an eye or got a Shirley Temple curl out of place, especially when mom mentioned ice cream and fireworks.  ;)

Lucas & Landon

More catching up...

Lucas and Landon are some seriously energetic subjects! We ventured to the neighborhood park for this shoot and brought along Max the dog. It was hard to get them to sit still for anything, so I did a lot of chasing. Felt more like play than work, which is always nice. And these kids do not take a bad photograph, so it was pretty much a play date!  Here's a few shots from the day.  Enjoy.
