And time is running out! (Catch-Up/Rewind- Kristen Miller Photography)

child photographer Pittsburgh wedding event Kristen Miller Photography

In the depth of winter,  I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
-Albert Camus

I am running out of time for this 2010 Rewind! The USB port on my (POS) laptop has not been recognizing the flash drive (on which I keep my pictures) for some reason, so I am using another computer to get this last round in.  I can't believe its already New Year's Eve.  The days seem to fly a bit faster when surrounded by loved ones, good food, and general holiday lackidaisicalness.  (Yes, its a word.  I checked.  See also: leisureliness, do-nothingness, inertness, langouressness.)  Well, I have a few minutes left.  Here goes....  Here's a bit more from the summer time.  Ah, I remember that season!

Julian & Ivy: "To the outside world we all grow old.  But not to brothers and sisters.  We know each other as we always were.  We know each other's hearts.  We share private family jokes.  We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys.  We live outisde the touch of time." ~Clara Ortega
Ivy & Eli: "Being pretty on the inside means you don't hit your brother and you eat all your peas--that's what my grandma taught me."  ~ Lord Chesterfield
Eli: "Seven days of no swimming makes one weak."  ~Author Unknown
Julian & Ivy: "Summer afternoon--summer afternoon, to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language."  ~Henry James

oohhh, and time really is running out...

(More) 2010 Rewind/Catch-up: Dana & Marybeth's wedding

Playing more catch-up.  Here are some photographs from Dana & Marybeth's late summer wedding.  Gorgeous couple, gorgeous families (if I do say so myself) and a gorgeous backdrop.  I couldn't have asked for a better shoot.  Enjoy!

I think the best pictures are often on the edges of any situation, I don't find photographing the situation nearly as interesting as photographing the edges.  ~William Albert Allard, "The Photographic Essay"

All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget.  In this - as in other ways - they are the opposite of paintings.  Paintings record what the painter remembers.  Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.  ~John Berger

 Dec. 22, 2010

Happy Holidays to you all!  Hoping the season finds you somewhere safe, warm, and cozy with people you truly love (or at least care about) and food you will you truly hate yourself for eating tomorrow.  (Fruitcake does still exist, right? Whether or not anyone has found a sound purpose for it, is another story, I suppose.)  I have been sorely remiss in updating this blog recently, mostly due to other work, school and some major-minor life changes (mostly positive), but I am officially making a pre-pre-New Years resolution (did I just jinx myself by even saying that?) to play catch-up and post some of my favorite photographs from the past year.  Starting with the cutest Santa I've seen to date, and working my way backwards (in no particular order, of course)...

I will be posting throughout the holidays...religiously so to speak.  And I meant that in the most PC way possible.   :p

May our paths cross soon in 2011
xoxo Kristen
